to do list

I forgot how much I like the website "43 Things." I joined the site around this time for my Introduction to Social Media course. As part of a semester long project, we were asked to join social networking pages and provide feedback on our experiences. I joined MySpace for a day, and have never felt more socially awkward. I'm not quite sure how people make that one work, but even for a social experiement I couldn't handle it. I found that 43 Things took something I have had for awhile, a list of things to do in life, and put it online in a sharing community. I enjoyed going back to my first list I made while in grammar school and seeing what I had checked off and what my goals were at that age. I feel like I am a goal-oriented person, but when it comes to a professional mindset. This site allows users to set goals for any facet of their lives. It is so easy to become busy with a hectic schedule; maybe taking the time to jot down a few goals will lead to some accomplishsments down the line.

ambitious & enthusiastic

"Ambition is enthusiasm with a purpose."

When I created my business card (yes I made business cards while in college) I wanted them to be something unique. And being an undergrad with a card wasn't unique enough for me. I chose to include the above quote because I felt it completely described how I felt (and still feel) about looking for and beginning my career.

For as long as I can remember, I have always looked forward to "my next big thing." Whether that was a play, a dance, a job, or an internship I enjoyed what I had going on at that time, but knew there was plenty more to come. I pride myself in keeping busy, but still doing things for a reason. Behind a person's ambition there must be something driving it. It could be achieving a goal, like personal satisfaction or monetary gain. It could be for positive outcomes or the result of vindictive measures. For me, it's my excitement to continue learning and seeing what's next.

Taking the time to explain this quote has been much more difficult than I had anticipated. I'm not done explaining, but I do know one thing: this does explain me.

Sidenote: if anyone knows who Frank Tyger is (the one who spoke these words originally) please let me know! Thus far, he is just a name to me.

Alotta life

A new job, a trip to Australia, and a California reunion with my only sister are some of the big upcoming events in my life. These three events have led me to believe I've got a lot of life heading my way. Here's my attempt at documenting that life in a fun and friendly way. Who knows how this experiment will fair, but it'll be something new and worthwhile.

Keeping my fingers crossed...
